Cross lighting this Crepe Myrtle creates a gorgeous focal point for the right side of the home. Notice how the lights accentuate the interesting shape of the trunk and the beautiful bark while softly illuminating the canopy from within.

Project Spotlight:

Landscape Lighting – Foxcroft, Charlotte, NC

We loved designing and installing a custom outdoor lighting system for this beautiful home in Foxcroft.

While the home had an existing lighting system, the homeowners decided it was time to upgrade the system with new fixtures and additional lights.

From the gorgeous architectural details of the home itself to the picturesque landscaping surrounding the home, we were able to highlight the best features of this home and property.

Outdoor Lighting Objectives

During the initial design consultation, the homeowners’ lighting objectives were to update the existing lighting system by replacing broken fixtures, repositioning lights, and installing additional lights throughout the property.

The homeowners specifically requested more light around the front of the home. To achieve this, we added accent lighting to highlight the architectural features of the home itself, path lights to illuminate two pathways near the front entrances, and accent lights to trees and other landscaping features surrounding the home. In the end, this custom lighting system consisted of over 100 low voltage outdoor lights.

Architectural Lighting

In the front, we used a combination of accent lights to highlight the clean, modern architecture of this gorgeous home.

We also added lights to the dormers. It is always important to carry the light to the highest roofline.

The existing lighting system for this home did not include architectural lighting. There were a few lights positioned to illuminate bushes in front of the home which provided a small amount of light to some of the home itself. We chose to reposition these lights behind the bushes to highlight the architecture instead. Here is a before and after image of the same area. Notice the unsightly shadows in the before image. With the lights positioned behind the plants, we eliminated these shadows and created beautiful silhouettes of the plants.

Creating Depth with Light

The landscaping surrounding this home was a dream to light. Notice how the addition of lights to these beautiful, mature trees creates visual interest and depth in an area that would normally be flat and dark. It also introduces a gorgeous green color palate to offset the existing streetlights located behind the wall surrounding the property.

Modern Path Lights

There are so many reasons to install outdoor lighting, but here you can really see how lighting facilitates safe navigation throughout the property. Notice how each fixture provides just enough light to softly illuminate the pathway. The aria path lights pictured here were the perfect choice for this modern home.
