Landscape Lighting, Mountainbrook

Project Spotlight:

Landscape Lighting Mountainbrook, Charlotte, NC

This outdoor lighting project turned out beautifully! We enjoyed working with the homeowners to design the perfect landscape lighting plan for their property. From the gorgeous circle drive and expansive backyard with mature trees to the bridge and stone steps leading to the lakeside firepit, and unique plants throughout, we were able to highlight the best features of their property with custom landscape lighting.

Outdoor Lighting Objectives

During the initial design consultation, the clients’ lighting objectives were to update their current lighting system and incorporate additional landscape lighting into various areas throughout their expansive property.

The homeowners’ existing lighting system consisted of a few path lights in the front and some architectural lighting. They decided it was time to add some more navigational lighting throughout the property and create some nighttime visual interest and depth by strategically lighting trees and other plants.

To achieve the desired look, we installed 33 low voltage outdoor lights throughout the property.

Enhancing Curb Appeal

In the front, we used a combination of accent lights positioned at the base of various plants and trees in and around the circle drive. We also installed well lights to illuminate a row of beautiful Crepe Myrtle trees to the left of the driveway. Now, as you approach the home, you are met with a picturesque nighttime view. The lights add the perfect amount of drama and create beautiful depth and visual interest in areas that were previously flat and dark.

Deck Lighting & Step Lights

The area pictured here features a gorgeous bridge leading to a set of natural stone steps. Follow these steps to the top of the hill and you will come across a perfect lakeside firepit. We chose to light the bridge with small lights mounted underneath the railings. We used low profile path lights to light the stone steps and the firepit area. These low profile, rainier lights work perfectly for these applications because they sit almost flush with the ground preventing damage from lawncare professionals. They also put out the perfect amount of light without causing glare bombs as you ascend and descend the stairs.

Creating Depth with Landscape Lighting

Uplighting trees throughout the back yard creates beautiful ambiance at night. This also increases the homeowner’s field of vision to the outer edges of the property, creating another layer of security with light.

Lighting Unique Plants

There were plenty of unique plants and trees positioned throughout this property. We strategically chose some of the larger plants to use as focal points. The visual effect of this accent lighting is truly stunning!
